One of my last Uni project - Sustainable Fashion.
There is a short brief what it was all about. Let me know what do you think of the garments.
The Garden Of Denim S/S 2013
Cotton is one of the most widely grown and most chemical-intensive crops in the world. Conventionally grown cotton uses tremendous amount of insecticides and pesticides as well as excessive labour, water and energy consumption during vegetation.
Every year great amount of jeans is bought by consumers to supersede barely worn last season garments.
My aim was to prolong the life of cotton clothing and design a collection of garments that were made out of denim. I have used denim trousers donated by my lovely friends: Anna and Karolina as well as trousers which I have bought in Traid charity shop. I have used also white 100% cotton T-shirts donated to LCF by Amnesty International.
I conceive there is a vast opportunity in sustainability of recycling an old clothes and from something simple create something extraordinarily amazing.
Moreover, my project proved that there is an possibility for not only recycling old denim but also for great business opportunity by converting it in high end collection.
Within the context of this project, sustainability is viewed as endless opportunity to reversal from what fabric we design.
